A fried of mine has a set of callaway fusion wide sole irons at his vacation home as a back up set and earlier this spring while I borrowed the house for my own family vacation I also borrowed the clubs for several rounds.

They are not a set I would normally look at but I was pleasantly surprised, they did make it a much different game then what I am used to, but I found these clubs to hit high, long, and very straight. I think they were 1/2 a club longer than my own.

Anyone who is looking to "work" the ball and thinks that these would be a good choice obviously has more dollars then sense, but if you are looking to hit hit higher straighter shots with less effort then these wouldn't be a bad choice.

After all if you are in the middle more times then not you don't have to curl your next shot around a tree.

With the cost of new I would rate the value very low but you can get a used set under $500.

This driver is very straight, has decent distance and sounds really good everytime you make contact. I would recommend this driver to whoever wants a quality driver but not ready to pay an extremely high price. Check Ebay for great prices on these terrific Warbirds.

Driving the ball was never the strongest part of my game, that would be my iron play, but with this driver I really look forward to stepping up to the tee, I'm hitting atleast 10 out of 14 fairways now as compared to maybe 7 of 14 with my warbird before. The benefits of this club I feel are more rewarded with a harder, faster swing, it may sound funny but the fact is its true at least from what I've learn, I've been playing with it for 10 months now. If you like the war bird then this club is a really good upgrade and at a low price its hard to beat I see these things going on ebay at between $75-$125 all the time.

Distance I've found is good about 5-10 yards further then my old club, probably due to the VFT technolgy, great tradition callaway sound at impact and one of the nicest paint jobs on a driver. The steel head is not for everyone though its a players club and you may need to work out your swing before really appreciating this driver. Best driver I feel under 250cc and well under $200 brand new.

This model replaces the Steel Head Plus. This is truely an amazing club. I am using the 44" Uniflex steel shaft and getting excellent distance and amazing accuracy. I must have tried every driver in the pro shop and this club beat them all. This club worked better for me then the Taylor Made 300 series drivers that you hear so much about.

The pro shop where I purchased the club was kind enough to let me try out all the drivers on their out door range. The ball explodes off the face of this 275cc steel head driver, has a crisp feel and powerful PING sound when striking the ball. This club is the best I have found. Try before you buy. What's right for me might not be for you, but do make sure you try this little baby!

I liked my TM 360 but offset combined with my tendency on bad swings to release too quickly and pull/hook was a problem.

I demoed and found club was easier to groove than any driver I've hit. Pro 1 degr. open face helps my particular tendencies. Feel of clubhead perfect and helps my tempo, which on this club is really key. Shaft may not be best ever made, but seems better than some reviewers are saying, as long as tempo decent.

Reasonably decent swings keeps balls in fairway, as do some awkward ones. Disperion far better than my 360, which now is in closet (and I previously thought I liked club). Distance is great, also better than 360. Ball flight is awesome. My 360 often backed up! This thing penetrates, keeps rising and then rolls depending on fairway conditions. Ball flight makes my heart flutter. Easy to raise or lower trajectory.

My center contact is way better, possibly owing to weight/feel of head, resulting tempo improvement and confidence. During demo I hit about 30 balls dead center which is not my normal pattern with a driver. I'm just learning to work the ball with it, too soon to tell on that, but encouraged by other reviewer's comments. I really dislike Callaway's pricing and want to go with alternatives, but now I have 2 ball putter and their driver in my bag and am really happy with both. Oh well.

Some people love hybirds, some don't. It took me a while to learn how to hit these clubs. The 2h graphite hits long and far, pretty straight. The stock shaft is a bit weak, but I am hitting is decently solid so no need to reshaft yet. The 3h Uniflex shaft is a bit crappy. I don't like the stock shaft it always seems to leak right. Going to reshaft it in a TT DG Lite to see if I can get a more consistant ball flight. The distance is great, in fact too far. I wanted to replace my 3 iron with my 3h but hit the 3h about 15 yards longer than I want it too. Oh well, guess I will have to buy the 4h.

I got both my hybirds off ebay quite cheap. Go demo them at a golf store but do yourself a favor and shop ebay. You can save lots of cash this way. 5 stars value, 4 stars overall (due to the shafts).

also, ive had a few people snicker at the 12* loft while warming up at the first tee, they shut up when we walk out to out tee shots. it looks like i hit a long pop up but it just keeps carrying, past their drives! i cant say enough good about this club.

might not be goot for slicers since the face is square. this is what led me to this club, its hard to find a good high loft driver without a closed face. Cally hooked me up for sure. in the 3rd round played with this driver i shot a 69, my best round ever.

The size also makes it perfect for a backup driver. So if you can't make it to the range before a round and don't want to start out with a driver in the trees, use this to poke a nice shot 200+ yards straight down the center of the fairway.

Finally, I love the Fujikura Banzai shaft. I bought the regular flex and it seems pretty stiff (as opposed to the old Callaway RCH regular flex which was just too whippy). So by saying it's "stiff" I guess I mean that it's just right. Take note that the shaft is 44 inches - longer than other fairway woods - so you can generate more headspeed. If that's too long for you and you want more control, look at the new Big Bertha fairway wood. The 3 wood is 16 degrees (as opposed to 15 on the X Hot), but the shaft is shorter. Might be a tad easier to control. But to be honest, I really never could tell the difference.

For the money, it is the best ball I have found. I shoot in the low 90s, and my weakness is around the greens. This ball did not help that problem, but I have yet to find a ball that does. This ball did help my strengths. I can put the ball in the fairway easier. I can drive it longer.

It doesn't balloon up on me either. The greatest difference it makes to my game is it allows me to really crank up on the tee, and not be as concerned about ending up in the woods, because I very seldom get a huge draw or fade with this ball. I really like this ball, and would recommend it. I also think it putts very well. It is a little hard, but it is a 2 piece distance ball. I have yet to find one that isn't hard.

This one may not fly as far as some of higher end drivers, but it does exactly what I need it to do...hit straight and long every time. Before the 460, I was hitting the Cleveland Hibore XL, which hit about 20 yards longer, but was much more inconsistent for my swing. I enjoy bombing the ball off the tee, so I hate to sacrifice distance, but I've learned to keep the testosterone at bay and play for consistency.

I can get more distance when needed, but unlike the Hibore XL, I can take a relaxed swing and get great results out of the 460. I feel 100% confident with this driver, and for the courses I play I don't really care about working the driver. Long is straight will work every time. Seems to hit higher than the previous drivers I've owned, but as long as it lands 275+ in the fairway, it can go to the moon and back for all I care.

Definitely would recommend this driver for anyone who is looking for a little more consistency off the tee.
